Day 483: New things accomplished and some new things in the works....

A little after my projected time line for posting, but I do have some new things to report on.

#9 write a cook book....I have finally got my final idea down for this. It will be part health book and part cook book. It will basically be about choosing foods that can help your body in certain aspects and also a few recipes for these foods. Title is a working progress but I'm sure i know what it

#58 Showtime...The last of the 5 movies I saw in theatres for this tougher to do then thought feat was what IMDB among other sites actualy call a documentary or reality....Jack Ass 3d....the movie was funny and gross....really gross at times but in a funny no way in hell would i do that for anything less then a million dollars tax free funny. the 3d aspect didn't really have a place in this movie except for the opening.

#74 Music...Happened to see Naughty by Nature do a 30 minute set at a sporting event....that is all that is worth mentioning of them.

#85 Inspire someone again.....
there have been a few people who have said they were going to make a list, 1 that did but hasn't done anything beyond that but now I have inspired 2 people to make a list, publish it and compete......here is Laura's who in hand challenged her husband Micah to do one as well.

Day 454: Where the hell have I been and why have I not posted?!?

It's been far to long since I've posted and am truly sorry. I'm committing myself to posting on the 1st and 15th from now on no matter what. I'm just hoping I remember everything I did here now. I'm sure there is something I will forget but we shall see. I'm nearly halfway through and have a way to go. Not all of these will have pictures for one reason or another (mostly busy or lazy). But here's whats new:

#16 Trip to Vegas Jr......As sort of a pre warmup to Las Vegas in a couple years I wanted to get a taste for a real casino area. Didn't do squat on the slots but I didn't lose everything. I played for a while in the poker room in Caesars (on a WSOP Table as well :-) yay) and won!....ok it was only $7 but hey I still won. The food was good and the shopping area was good as well. Would love to go back.

#19/39/54 Loving the great outdoors.....went camping in Cooperstown, NY. Well actually it was a small town just outside of C-town, it was a Jellystone state park and was kind of fun, and well it was kind of run down some too. While in Cooperstown I treated dad for father's day to the good old Baseball Hall of Fame. Not a whole lot changed but some additions were cool.

#28 The return of Chilly Willy?.....I casually stepped up to a game I have never won in the past 5 years i've played it.....the break 2 beer bottles with rigged baseballs. Casually I by some miracle I broke 2 and won a cute penguin who either is or closely related to Chilly Willy.

#38 SURPRISE!!!!....I lost the pictures for this but I surprised my sister with a care package while at school that included snacks and toys and humorous items.

#46/50 HELP....While I didn't fully organize and run the event, I did help with it since the Macker 3 on 3 tourney was a biggie. But we raised quite a lot of money for the Canteen and will be done again next year.

There are a few things that are partials for now so I won't post on that right now till they are done. Right now I have completed 18 things only but the next update will have a quite bit more done I'm sure. That is all for now Thank you and good night.

Day 282, Is it stealing or long term borrowing?

Day 282, I actually got a whole bunch of things completed in the month since my last update and a couple i started on or continued. I'm hoping after today to update rough every 2 weeks but hey I think i've said that before too. On to the details.....

#10 5 new restaurants....this is one of the restaurants I was really looking forward to going to and boy did it live up to the hype. I was not disappointed. We went to the one in Edison, NJ while on vacation. There was a 20 minute to get seated and I figured that i'd be at least another 40 before getting food. After our order was taken, soup came 5 minutes later and then no joke like 10 minutes later we got our food. Portions were over the top in size and fed us with leftovers to spare (saddly they never saw the outside of the building without a trash bag....there were no fridges at the hotel) however I can surely recommend the red velvet cheesecake....kristen's oreo cheesecake was good too, but hey at $7.95 a slice they better be good.

#21 I recommend you do...something...so based off a recommendation from someone i had to go somewhere, well i was told that down near Binghamton there was a sonic drive in and that i needed to go. I ordered a burger that was new, some sort of double cheese burger with jalapeño poppers on it (honestly i didn't know it would be as big as it was) oh and there tots suck ass!!!!

#35 Who says "how do we make the Bronx better? Hey Let's put a zoo right in the middle!"?....if you have never been to this zoo, you need to. It's that much better, but you should also plan to spend it open to close because it is so big and there is so much to do. I decided to feature this Coke-a-cola loving animal on my blog because he was the best part. If you have seen the movie Madagascar then picture this bear as the lion. He posed quite a bit and was very well aware that people were taking pictures of him.....or her....i didn't really look.

#55...Lights, Camera, roar....err broadway action!!!....Lion King on Broadway was awesome. Anything on broadway is awesome though, it's like anything and everything gets kicked up a notch. Example below is the costume for Rafiki the monkey who was actually played by someone from south africa.

#63 To the future and beyond....Easily a really funny show, not the best season but it's on the list, yay for season 3!!

#64 Lemon Law, The Pineapples and San Francisco???....so after catching a few random episodes over time I decided I needed to catch up on this show. I believe it's season 5 on tv and I've gotten through seasons 1 and 2 and this show has easily made it to my top 5 shows of all time....How I met Your Mother....PS...to all the single people out there....spread lemon law....

#71 Play in a real live casino poker table....so one day randomly while at the casino I decided to sit at the $1,$2 poker table, and not getting many good cards, I made it count when I did coming out $190 ahead in just 45 minutes.

#86 2 guys not helping my diet....still....peanut brittle ice cream sounds promising, but it was more like the ham sandwich of ice cream....it wasn't good but is wasn't bad but it filled you up

#89 Is it stealing or long term borrowing?.....so is taking a casino chip from the casino stealing? I suspect it's the rule of thumb as "is taking a pen from the bank considered bank robbery?" either way while doing #71 I slipped a $1 chip into my pocket before arriving at the table for a keep sake.

**this image is not blurry, the chip is
slightly worn out**

So here's my progress so far..... completed 12 of 101 and started on another 8. That puts me at a 11.88 completion percentage and 19.8 % at least started. Going by averages I should be at 28 done and 27.72 completion percentage. That means i'm 16 things behind....however I'm not worried as I know I'll close that gap this summer. Till next time readers.

Day 254....Food, movies, and randomness

Day 254 could also be called I'm taking way to long to update this thing and sometimes forget i'm doing this thing. 37 days in between my posts is just way to much and i'm going to start making myself post stuff no more then every 15 days or so.....I hope. I've gotten a few things done and am ready to go here:

#6. Make a totally awesome cake...again...This was my cake I donated to the teen center's spaghetti dinner. It's a golden yellow cake, with creme de menthe frosting and Baily's Irish Cream candies on top.

#8. Eat Scallops....do you pronounce it as a word that rhymes with gallops or saying the name Al in the middle? Either way I tried a piece of it from Kristen's chippino one night and no I did not like it. However I may be willing to revisit this # at another time.

#33 Giving flowers to a loved one....given to my aunt while she was sick in the hospital, only wished it could have had super healing powers.

#45 Donate Blood 3 times. ...so I went and gave my blood for the first time ever and liked it. A few weeks later I get a letter telling me I'm A+ blood....nice because I didn't know and wanted to. However due to other unfortunate circumstances I am not able to donate any more blood. So according to my partner I'm doing this with I'm excused from this item.

#59 watching some top 100 per the AFI....so I saw AFI's #50 movie The Lord of The Rings, the fellowship of the rings. This is 2 hours and 59 minutes of my life I will not be able to get back. The idea for the movie isn't so bad but I just did not like this movie at all for some reason. I get it an F. Please AFI produce better next time.

#63....getting back to the Futurama. Man how I loved this show (thank you kevin) I really only owned season 2 but now i'm trying to get all the seasons and the dvds, and today I just found out the new seasons will be picked back up in June. Awesome!!

#68 SU dominating Villanova.....Yes I did attend college basketball's most attended game. While I was worried going into the game, by half time there was nothing to worry about as SU won!!!

#86 The fat maker, ben and jerry's flavors. While this is one of my favorite tasks it does pack on some calories. This update's new flavor was Karamel Sutra. The Caramel core with the ice cream around it was just awesome, I will be back to this flavor.

#94 Eat some fruit for 60 days.....this wasn't hard, my diet consisted mostly of pears and bananas for this with the occasional apple or pineapple....oh yea this one I got to mark with red which means done which is awesome!!!

Day 217....MMmm Ice Cream

So it's been 28 days since my last update and I've had some more ben and jerry's. I've got a bunch more days for my eating fruit goal (mostly sticking with pears and bananas.) Also you may have seen the donating time to charity and such. Well as it's now been formally announced, we at the canteen will be hosting Syracuse's first Macker 3 on 3 Basketball tournament.
For the good 'ol Valentine's Day we went out to Red Robin, a first for both of us and saw the movie Valentine's Day. Though I can not count that movie in my list because the romantic comedy category has been taken, it still was decent. Let's get to the details

#10 Eat at some new places: Red Robin in Fayetteville, NY

The place had a great atmosphere, felt like a good sports bar/chain restaurant. They also host the Jim Boeheim show there so I tried to see where they may have setup the stage area. It's a shame though that our waitress liked to pay most of her attention to the table next to us then any other table. So I did what I hate doing which is tipping a smaller percent but hey you get tipped what you deserve sometimes.
The burger I chose to go with was the Banzai Burger. It wasn't that bad but had to much teriyaki sauce on it. It's also got pineapple on it which worked well with the burger. Also had the steak fries with the seasoning salt on it which was good. Be forewarned they come out smoking hot but cool down pretty quick too. Also I was given quite a smile while looking out the window to see some jerk that parked in the handicap spot with no tags for it get a ticket. Enjoy your $50-200 fine buddy.

Number #46 and 50 were talked about above.

#86...MMmmm Ice Cream

So the 3 flavors I tried (as seen at the top because Blogspot was not cooperating tonight, sorry)
was, Banana Split, Peanut Butter Cup, and Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

I really loved the Banana Split and if I wasn't paying attention could have easily killed the pint in 1 sitting. It's supposed to be banana and strawberry ice creams with walnuts and fudge swirl but tasted more like heaven in a processed paper container...mmmm watch out phish food there's competition for my favorite flavor. The other day while at the market I bought the sample size of the fudge brownie, it was good but nothing really special. I would consider buying the bigger size if it caught my eye. The Peanut Butter cup was not good. The pieces of peanut butter cups tasted like cheap pieces of candy and the ice cream was way way to sweet. I probably will not buy this flavor again.

I'm still lagging behind in what i need to be getting done statisticly but looking ahead to the summer I know I'll be getting a lot done.

Day 189....Things are going slow right now but you wait till spring...

Day 189....This 1000 days thing is going fast, to fast and it feels like I'm running out of time already. Though my excuse as I'm looking at the list is that much of it will be accomplished this spring/summer so then I don't feel so bad. So a big thumbs up for some good future traveling and a big thumbs down to Jeanne Marie for saying celebrity chef demos don't count as concert.

#25 (where people pretend to like me) make three new friends.....while I should have posted this awhile ago but realizing just now recently I have made 3 new friends since Julyish when this started. Ron, Rob, and Katy....yes it is only because of Kristen but hey they are still friends. Thank you.

#46/50(charit
y work) I am working on/with a major fundraiser for the Canteen and while it hasn't been announced to the public, it will soon and will let everyone else know more info.

#58(the movies one)
I went last weekend to see Avatar!!!! It was great. A visual orgasm for the eyes. The plot wasn't all the week and well worth the $11 I paid to see the 3D version. I can not wait till the DVD and will make a lot of people watch this masterpiece from James Cameron. I'd call him one of hollywood's greatest if it wasn't for Titanic.

#86 (the anti-diet food) For trying some of the new flavors I try to get the sample 1 dollar size ice creams. I tried Mint chocolate Chunk which was better then expected. The mint ice cream was phenomenal and just the right amount of chocolate....mmmm....right to the thighs....

#94 (the fruity thing) I'm on day 7 of eating a fruit a day for 2 months.....mostly it's consisted of pears and apples though.

---at this point i should have 18-21 things done.....i have 6 done and 5 in progress......yikes time to get moving.....

Day 155, That's my kind of princess.....

Finaly hopefully getting back on a semi regular posting schedule. Didn't complete a whole item but i did knock off parts of 2.

Item number 58: My Kind of princess:
The item was to go see different movies, well today I knocked off seeing a Disney/Animated/Kids and family movie. I expected The Princess and the Frog to be mediocre at best (yes the picture is blurry and yes i know my camera phone sucks so much it should be made by Hoover) but to be honest, the movie was great. The main character, Tianna, has a really awesome ultimate goal of opening a restaurant which was to help honor her dad who she adored. In between growing up with her best friend, working 2 jobs to save money, missing out on life, kissing a frog and finaly wishing upon a store, she meets some awesome comical friends, never loses sight of her dream oh and falls in love with a mucus covered prince with an awesome soundtrack and villian. Minus the whole main character being a poor girl from New Orleans, it's like they read my mind of my dreams.....except I want a pastry shop and not a southern food restaurant. This may very well shockingly get into my top 5 Disney movies.

Item number 10, Eat at 5 new restaurants. This time it was Limp Lizard Take-out BBQ, and even though I've had their catering once, this was the actual restaurant. I wish I had taken a picture of the food because man is this place awesome. Yes I am saying this, the lizard is far better then the dinosaur!!! I had the beef brisket sandwich with the baked beans and jalapeño corn bread. First off the beef was so nice and tender and tasted as good as north syracuse smelled. The beans are an awesome side and their corn bread is great minus the occasional stray hard kernel. The next day i had a bite of Kristen's left over Chicken Philly......man even cold this was hands down the best chicken philly. I will be eating at this place alot....maybe next time it's the Chili..mmmmm

Day 137.....yikes was I sleeping?!?!?

OK so apparently I just got lazy and haven't done an up date in a few months, I even got a few friends who don't even know of the list. I will start making sure I update more often. Since it's been so long there wont be any stories in this update, you can ask about them if you'd like though, and I will just list what has been done. To all my new found friends seeing this, welcome.

Item:
"1). Try a new fish dish" well nothing exciting, it was shark on a stick gotten at the fair. It was cooked terrible. A bad cajun seasoning and just flat top grilled which didn't char the seasoning. pic can be viewed here
"6). Make an awesome cake (1 of 3)" mmm pumpkin spice cake
"10). Try 5 new restaurants including 1 Mexican place not named taco bell. (1 of 5, Salsaritas (liverpool, ny), 2 of 5, Little Italy (ogdensburg,ny))" Little Italy was good, a little hole in the wall restaraunt that had a great sauce but was way over the top kitchy with the Italian decor
"42). Buy 4 family or friends a drink (1 of 4)" simple bought someone a cup of coffee
"62). Go see Gary's band play (2 of 2, 1of 2 at shenanigans, 2 of 2 at bar at state fair)" excellent shows of course, very different from playing originals with the full band vs an accoustic set
"74). Go to 8 concerts, the free wednesday night in the park doesn't count. (1 of 8 1of8 sara evans)" Still waiting for final words on if these will count all together considering 2 are celebrity chefs and not music concerts. Flay and Guy both rocked, 2 different style shows but both great guys. Sara Evans was seen for someone's birthday and maybe only saw....hmmm 85% of the show though?
"100). Clip coupons and use 1 a week for 35 weeks (6 of 35)"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So to date I have 5 things complete (yea i know way behind) and i should have 13-15 things done. Though I do have 7 things in the works which take more then 1 day to complete. Time to get focussed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also just some notes, i had calculated my carbon footprint to be 9.1 i think? I wrote it down and will figure it out and get back. Also the time donated to charity will be constantly green seeing as how we are working on a major event for next August.

Day 49: Keepin' Things Moving

So it's been quite awhile since my last update, I'd love to say I've been busy but it wouldn't be true for the entire time. The good news though it means that I've got stuff done to blog about.

Item #24 (the Jeff Gordon number) Get Valet Parking.

I knew this would be an easy one, but hey, it's gosh darn convenient. On a trip to Turning Stone Casino, in which Kristen won $300 on a nickel slot, I decided to spring for the extra Lincoln in my wallet and paid for the valet parking. According to most "how to tip" websites, you should tip $3. Will someone tell all the waitresses and waiters that valets make 40-60% tips. I'll stick with the average which is $2.

Item #100. Coupon Clipping to help save money!!

So on my attempt to save a little bit of money on stuff I already buy I'm going through the Sunday paper and looking for good coupons. I have tended to use more then 1 but will only takes pics of 1 a week for proof. These are from the past 2 weeks. Dannon Yoplait yogurts and Arby's.

Item #31: Our comical target...was target!!

This is perhaps, at least to me and my sister, the funniest of items on my list. This inside joke roughly started 2-3 years ago when my wife and I were out at target shopping and we walked by the display furniture section I noticed a decent dining set. I thought out loud (as most guys do) how funny would it be to go to the snack bar, grab some food, and sit at the dining table and eat to "test eat" the furniture. Kristen however did not find this as amusing as I did, or at all for that matter. Later I recounted the story to my sister Jen who with a similar sense of humor (a good one) thought it would be funny. So X number of years later we decided we would do it the weekend before she left for college. As seen in the photos she chose the nachos with cheese and red slushie, I however went for the fruit parfait cup (gross) and lemonade. Upon getting to the furniture section (oh yea we scouted ahead of time) there was not real table to sit at so we instead opted for the porch swing set in the lawn and garden section. This seemed like a good idea till we later discovered that the mystery door there was the back stock room where employees came from. We sat and ate regardless of what people thought, we knew we were funny and would give people something to talk about later. We did have a slight fear of getting yelled at but thought whatever (mom and wife feared being arrested for some unknown reason). We did not get yelled at except for when Jen belched a very unlady-like burp which was funny till we heard an "EXCUSE ME!!" from behind us and i think we both jumped in fear of the mean looking middle aged angry manager behind us....nope we were safe just some normal middle aged lady outraged she burped without manners and then pinned the blame on me. All in all a funny little experience.

Item #86 Making Ben and Jerry richer.

For the normal price of ben and jerry's ice cream I never saw the point in buying the Vanilla flavor. Though I love vanilla I never bought this. However with the now like super small sized ones for a dollar I thought I'd give it a try. While it was in fact good, it just didn't wow me that much.

So that means to date I've got 3 items done, and have started on 3 others. According to the averages, I should be done with 5 so I'm a little bit behind. Also I've really sorta started on 4 as I've started getting my cookbook in order and worked on in my mind for a theme. Now just to get it on paper...err computer files really I guess. Till next time!!

Day 22, Finaly 1 thing complete and parts of a few others....again

Ok so it's been 13 days since my last post which is ohhhh 3-4 days more then I would like but hey we all get busy and side tracked right? **at this point i've spent 5 minutes trying to come up with some funny comment or story but have failed due to my mood** so on with the new Items.

#52-I have bought canvas bag #4 so that is now officialy my first complete item. Of course the hard thing is remembering to get said bags in car after you bring groceries inside. For those wondering where my bag came from they are from Target(red), Walmart (black), Price Chopper (white and green), and Wegmans (green).
Needless to say I feel good not using the plastic bags all the time. A bonus as well; Price Chopper discounts your order for bringing them to use.

#58....was not thrilled about this one. But by doing this I got to complete another of my items. I went and saw the movie The Proposal featuring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. I was actualy dreading this movie, untill I got here and alittle into the movie I realized how friggen hilarious Ryan Reynolds is. I've loved him as an actor since 2 guys a girl and a pizza place. Needless to say I semi enjoyed the movie giving it a 2.5 out of 5 stars though as all chick flicks go, the ending is highly predictable within 25 minutes of the movie.

Oh also they had an awesome trailer for GI Joe and a new movie that has peaked my interest known as "cloudy with a chance of meatballs".....aparently this was a book as well.

#10....the good part of the bargin was getting to try a new place to eat. Salsarita's was the place and it's apparently the Mexican equivelent of Subway. www.salsaritas.com This place was really good. In fact I went there twice in 3 days. The first time I got the Enchiladas...intended to take picture as the proof but forgot so took one of my reciept. Went there 2nd time got grilled chicken burrito and once again forgot to take a picture. To all my friends in syracuse I recomend checking this place out or if there is one near you gooooooo!!!!!!

#86-Certainly one of the more tastey items on the list. I bought a pint of Willie Nelson's Country Peach Cobbler ice cream. It's a decent flavor the chunks of brown sugar are just to much. Something I may buy once more in my life but not often and not a flavor of choice.
